Thank you for trusting us with your case. We'll talk once you send back this completed questionnaire, but I wanted to send this email so you have something to get started on immediately. This email is a bit long, but it will help us both in the long run, so PLEASE take time to read it and save it. Take your time and read this email carefully so we are on the same page

Please find attached a questionnaire that I need filled out ASAP to begin your case.

Please fill it out completely and do not skip info.

If not applicable, put N/A or Unknown. You can type directly onto the form and create as much space as you want. The biggest delay in the case is when clients skip parts of the questionnaire, not realizing for legal reasons, I need the answer. Like the county BOTH parties currently live in, how long, where the kids have lived in the past 5 years - this all affects where and when the case is filed. These are just a few examples. Bottom line please take the time to fill it out completely because it will move your case faster.

Please tell the story in the part where it asks the reasons for the modification if you are seeking modification of an existing order. Be specific; give me dates that the opposing party refused mediation and how the child suffered as a result.

In addition, over the next 2-3 days, please register for a Texas efile account, as you will need to file documents for your case. Be sure to add a payment method to the efile account to pay the filing fee when the time comes to file. As per your contract, if you need us to help, we are here. This is another area that causes delays in your case, so please make it a priority to get it done and if you need help, just ask us.

A few housekeeping rules so that you have realistic expectations:

Our office keeps regular business hours 9-5pm during weekdays and is closed an hour for lunch daily. We are closed on weekends/holidays. Therefore, any messages or emails sent after hours or on weekends will be responded to before the end of the next business day, if it is not answered the same day.

We have a 24-hour return reply policy

But most times it is the same day. Please understand we give time and attention to each client and if we fail to answer right away, it is because we are giving a client the same excellent care that we will give you…unless it’s after hours, then we are simply being human and have ended the workday.

The legal process is a slow grinding machine, so please be patient. Know that we are always working behind the scenes to advance your case and WILL let you know when we have something to report, so please refrain from reoccurring emails and/or calls asking what is happening or when it will happen. Please trust that we are working on your behalf, and the time it takes to answer what is going on. Emails detract from the time we could dedicate to your and other clients' cases.

Important: Many clients want to give a lot of emotional information about their case but the focus has to be getting the documents drafted and filed with the court. You will have time to tell your story to me prior to the hearing when we prepare. So for now, please get the questionnaire back ASAP so I can help you with your legal issue.
